Capping & Pinning
The Capping and Pinning ceremony will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the college gym. Capping and Pinning recognizes the students who have completed Seward County Community College’s nursing program and are receiving an Associates Degree in Nursing.
BCU
The Black Collegiate Union and HALO are hosting the second annual Multicultural Banquet May 1. This unique ceremony promotes the importance of diversity on campus, working toward social justice, honoring different and intersecting legacies of struggle and survival, and building meaningful coalitions across identities.
Ceramics serves ice cream
From 11 a.m to 2 p.m. Thursday, handmade ceramic bowls will be sold in the humanities building in H121. With the purchase of a bowl, ranging from $5 to $40, a person will receive free ice cream. Proceeds will help SCCC Ceramic students attend a Raku workshop.
Blood drive hosted
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in SW229D, SCCC will host a blood drive. To schedule an appointment those interested may call the Wellness Center at 417-1140. Everyone that donates will receive a free T-shirt.
HALO
The Hispanic American Leadership Organization is participating in the Spring Fiesta April 27 and will have a booth at the event. The club is also making a float for Cinco de Mayo and will co-sponsor a multicultural dinner May 1 with BCU.
Kylix
The SCCC art club will leave Friday and return Sunday from a trip to Santa Fe, N.M., where they will visit several museums. The club raised money for the trip by hosting the Children’s Art Day this semester. Adam Semisch, Ilse Cambron, Brenda Borrega, Brenynn Allen and Alma Hidalgo will be going on the trip this weekend. The club’s last meeting will be May 8.
Phi Theta Kappa
Leadership Liberal did a workshop for Phi Theta Kappa members last week, Sunday members and sponsors picked up trash on a 2-mile stretch of highway, and Saturday several members have volunteered to participate in a local building project. Their next meeting is today in the Student Union.
