Seward County Community College’s Student Government Association will be holding elections for next year’s officers April 23-25. The elections will take place in front of the library from 9 a.m. to noon. All students are invited to cast their vote for next year’s SGA officers.
“We want SGA to be the voice of the students,” said Wade Lyon, director of student activities. “Students should know that they (SGA officers) will be fighting for them.”
President nominees are Beth Rohloff and Jesus Manriquez; vice president nominees are Kasey Kruger and Rachel McDonald; secretary nominee is Michelle McNabb.
SGA will also be hosting several activities throughout April. All activities will be open to students, staff, and the community.
On April 21 comedian Sean Carlin, nephew of comedian George Carlin, will return to SCCC to entertain with stand-up comedy in the Showcase Theater. Earlier this semester Carlin hosted The Money Tree Game Show in which students competed to win money.
The Spring Fiesta will be April 27 from 2-5 p.m. Students and their families are invited to visit and tour the campus while enjoying live music, carnival games and prizes. Mini burritos will be served to participants.
SCCC is hosting a blood drive April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in SW229D. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Wellness Center at 417-1140.
Walk-ins are also welcome to give throughout the day. Donors will receive a free T-shirt for their donation.
