Planning for the Spring Fiesta is going smoothly and is on schedule.
The event is planned for Sunday, April 27. The smoothness is
credited to the number of people involved in the project, so
that the work is spread out.
The Admissions staff and Wade Lyon, the director of student
activities are the hosts working hard to pull the event together
in the weeks leading up to the big event. Other groups that
have agreed to help out are the Student Government, Hispanic
American Leadership Organization, and the Colvin Learning Center.
Current and prospective students, as well as their families
are encouraged to come out and take part in the event. There
will be a live remote broadcast during the event.
We are inviting everyone to come out for the baseball
game at one, and then to stop by and check us out, admissions
coordinator, Jessica Murphy stated, you do not even have
to be linked to the college to come.
The inflatables should be on campus by 1 p.m., so as soon as
they are set up, students and the community are welcome to start
climbing around on them. After the event is over, the inflatables
will be left up until 7 p.m. for students to enjoy.
Some of the new developments, in addition to the inflatables,
will be a Mexican yell contest, Mexican Bingo (Lotteria), and
carnival games.
At the carnival games, you will be able to win prizes that include
t-shirts, sweatshirts, logo items, and many other items from
the bookstore.
Adding to the carnival feel of the event is going to be all
the food available, especially the cotton candy. It is
just going to be fun, said admissions coordinator Justin
Morales.
The Ambiente Musical Five will be playing music for the event.
This group is made up of Liberal High School students.
Celeste Donovan, dean of students services, likes the admissions
staffs new approach to getting the community involved.
She would like to compliment the Admissions staff on coming
up with another way to reach out to the Hispanic community while
approaching Cinco de Mayo.
If anyone would like to help with the event either individually
or as a group they can contact Wade Lyon, director of student
activities.
