Thirty-six Seward County Community College students were inducted
into the Chi Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa for the spring
2004 semester. The formal induction ceremony took place Feb.
22.
The ceremony began with a prelude performed by pianist Roberta
Garrett. Dr. John Loucks, PTK sponsor, gave the welcome speech.
Loucks explained the history of PTK, what PTK is all about and
the perks of being part of such a perfect prestigious organization.
After Loucks' speech, Lori Geis, vocal music instructor, directed
the Sound Express Show Choir in two songs, "I Will Be Here"
and "Maybe We Will Meet Again".
Dr. James Tangeman, SCCC interim president, was the guest
speaker. The address to the inductees was given by Michelle
Reed, Chi Alpha president.
The inductees present for the ceremony pledged themselves to
uphold the principles of PTK. Before pledging the inductees
joined in a name-signing ceremony. The inductees were greeted
by the Chi Alpha officers; Tangeman; Ty Hughbanks, PTK sponsor;
