Seven Saints take summer journey that leads to national title

The Liberal Bee Jays are one out away from winning the national championship at Lawrence Dumont Stadium in Wichita.

Summers, high school games, college careers — their baseball journey to this point has all come down to this.

Former Seward County Saint Tomas Cruz is on the mound and catcher David Masters is set.

A host of current Bee Jays and former Saints, Kelby Tomlinson, Travis Parker, Jared Wagner and Quay Grant,  are ready to explode in a celebration. Teammate Christian Kowalchuk listens on the radio from Arkansas as an injury and doctor’s visit keeps him out of the tournament, but still very much a part of the Bee Jay team.

Saints drop two to Clarendon, still in first in Jayhawk West

The Seward County Saints baseball team dropped two games to No. 19 Clarendon on Wednesday 9-2 and 9-3 at Brent Gould Field.

A combination of poor pitching and poor at-bats proved to be detrimental to the Saints in the doubleheader.

The Saints sent Hayden Holub to the hill to start game one for them and started good as he had a 1-2-3 first inning.

Clarendon put a run on the board in the second inning to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead over the Saints.

The Saints answered in the bottom of the third with a run of their own after Kelby Tomlinson led off the inning with a single to left field and was able to get into scoring position on an error.

Josh Dawson hit a long fly ball to left field that was deep enough to score Tomlinson evening...

Saints Baseball wins first two conference games of season

The Seward County Saints baseball team were able to get two shutout victories on Tuesday over Cloud County at Brent Gould Field.

Great pitching and a lot of runs were the winning combination for the Saints as they won game one eight to nothing and game two in a five inning run-rule 10 to nothing.

Cameron Maldonado made a strong case for being labled as the Saints ace as he picked up the win in a game one shutout.

Maldonado pitched a complete game without giving up a run on five hits and struck out six Thunderbirds, while only allowing one walk.

Maldonado now has two wins and no losses on the season and boasts a 0.00 ERA.

The offense was led by Daniel Bruce, Josh Dawson and Ty Jacobs.

Bruce was one for two with three RBIs and a...

“It was a fairly long day,” Saints outfielder Jace Moore said. “But we stayed mentally focused and everybody was in the game whether they were playing or not. I feel like we performed pretty well for all 32 innings.”

Seward’s offense perfomed well in the 32 innings racking up a total of 29 runs on the day. Leading the way with...
