About Us

CrusaderNews.com is the online student newspaper coordinated with the Crusader student newspaper. The Crusader, the official student newspaper of Seward County Community College/Area Technical School, is published bi-monthly by journalism students during the regular academic year, except on holidays, breaks and during examination periods.

One copy of each issue is distributed free to each student, faculty and staff member. Inquire about additional copies in the Crusader office, Hobble Academics Building, AA131, Box 1137, Liberal, KS 67905. Additional copies are available for purchase at 50 cents each.

Letters to the editor will be considered for publication if they are signed and the authenticity of the writer’s signature is verified. The staff reserves the right to edit for length. Opinions voiced in letters and editorials are not necessarily those of Seward County Community College/Area Technical School or the Crusader.

Student editors carry the final responsiblity for content and design of the student publications.
Staff editorials are decided on and written by members of the editorial board.

Mission Statement

The Crusader and CrusaderNews.com are published by and for students of SCCC/ATS.

The Crusader strives to train students to competently and fairly report news in the student newspaper and online newspaper forums, presenting quality products while learning life and career skills. The journalism department will continually present updated opportunities to learn skills in news writing, design and layout, advertising, and photography. It is the belief of the Crusader that ethics, accountability, and integrity are intrinsically tied to all walks of the successful journalist’s career and, as such, must be practiced with all stringency.
