Saints season comes to a close

Seward's season came down to 1.7 seconds last night. In a 67-64 contest in favor of the Grizzlies, jon following loss for web Butler purposely fouled Donte McCarter to send him to the line. McCarter had to sink the first and miss his second opportunity in hope a Saint could get a putback to go into overtime.
McCarter did sink the first. McCarter's second shot banged off the front of the rim. The shot bounced straight back towards McCarter, who in the mid-air scramble came away with it. McCarter, falling backwards, threw up the shot. McCarter hit the floor and the last stitch effort fell short as Seward's season came to a close following a 67-65 loss.
"Breaks didn't go our way," Saints head coach Bryan Zollinger said. "It's one turnover, one shot, one foul, one call that can make the difference."
Seward and Butler battled for a full 40 minutes in the regional semi-final. The Saints and Grizzlies passion radiated into the spectators in Charles Koch Arena, as not only did play get chippy, but fans alike were at ends with one another.
"Fans are passionate for their team," Zollinger said. "Players are passionate for the sport they've worked their whole lives for."
The Saints fell, but competed a full 40 minutes.
"It's one of those things," Zollinger said. "In the thick of things it's easy to get frustrated. I'm yelling at them everyday, it's easy to let frustration rule the day. But all these guys are good guys, and they worked hard, and competed, for their school, for the community."
Marky Nolen recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, McCarter also scored 18. Latiq Agard was double-teamed down low nearly all night and was held to eight points.
