The Distribution Education Clubs of America state competition will be held on March 27 at Seward County Community College from 1 to 6 p.m. The SCCC team will have 20 to 25 participants in the competition. Garden City and Butler community colleges are among possible teams coming to compete in the state meet. Those students who participate in the state competition and meet set requirements will qualify to attend the national competition in Salt Lake City, Utah April 13 - 17. Students are encouraged to take their resumés to nationals to be interviewed by corporations for job placement opportunities.
DECA is raising money to aid members attending nationals. Tickets to win a Thomas Kinkade framed picture are being sold at $1 each. The drawing for the picture will be on April 3.
DECA’s second fund-raiser is a joint effort with the Association of Information Technology Professionals. AITP will create mouse pads with the customer’s choice of picture for DECA members to sell. The mouse pads are $10 each or $5 for three or more of the same image.
The third fund-raiser is in partnership with Richard Rose Pontiac. Anyone who purchases a car from Richard Rose and presents a slip from DECA earns $100 for the club.
